Kate Middleton's Genealogy

Guess what? Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, is not Jewish. Big Surprise?

Rachel Leibold at JWeekly.com sounds kind of desperate to have the duchess be Jewish.

Her hopes were up because Kate's mother was born Carol Goldsmith. But, she concedes, at least five generations of the Goldsmith clan have been married in churches.

Here's some genealogical info from WikiAnswers.

Kate Middleton's last traceable Goldsmith ancestor was a carpenter named John Goldsmith who was born in Kent around 1783.

At the time, there were a scant few Jews living in England, and all of them were Sephardic Jews who didn't have names like Goldsmith.

John's son married in a Baptist church.

But let's say she had Jewish grandparents. Would that have made the world any different?
